Oftentimes, I find myself coming back to this passage I read in Marianne Williamson’s Book, A Return to Love. Today, I want to share it with all of you.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to manifest the glory
of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.”
That was long. I know.
But there is an inexplicable power in those words. It has inspired millions around the world. Nelson Mandela recited them in his inaugural speech back in 1994. And today, as I thought of writing this email to you, they came back to me.
Because here’s what I believe about you.
If you’re reading this newsletter, you are a dreamer. You have some big aspirations in life. There’s a version of you, somewhere in the future, that’s exciting and inspiring you to work hard today.
And you’re not there. At least not yet.
So, you keep learning, keep trying, and keep coming back to our collective journey of going from confusion to clarity.
Today, we’re taking it a step further by helping you unlock your biggest shift for this year!
And it begins with understanding…
The Real Cause of Failure.
It’s not a lack of ambition, incorrect thinking, not-so-useful plans, or sudden challenges.
Because there are many people who have succeeded even in the presence of all these barriers.
But there’s one thing no amount of hard work has ever overcome. It’s a tiny question that rings in the back of your head, but slams the brakes on all the success that’s trying to come your way.
“Do I deserve this?”
If you think you do, you’re right.
If you think you don’t, you’re still right.
Because no one in the world can measurably tell you the amount of success you deserve in your life. Except, well, YOU.
And when it comes to you, do you really give yourself permission to dream big? Or do you hold back? Do you spend time relishing those crazy visions? Or do you worry more about people, and thus hold back on your happiness and excitement, worried that you’d come across as childish?
The choice you make defines the life you live. Conforming and staying within your limits will give you comfort, but not satisfaction.
You won’t find fulfillment in suppressing your dreams for the sake of reality.
After all, deep down, you know that you’re meant for more. But you’re holding back because you’re worried you’ll shine so bright that people won’t be able to help but notice you.
And you don’t want the discomfort and responsibility that comes with being such a raging success. You know you can do it. You know you’re meant for more. You know there’s glory and the support of the Almighty, the universe, or a higher power with you. You’ve felt it.
But you don’t want to tap into it.
Because you’re worried, “What will people say?”
And that’s exactly why you are failing.
Be Like a Child…
…and you will succeed.
(Seriously, I mean it.)
Think about a five-year-old kid that you know. And imagine saying this to them.
“Hey, buddy. I’m sorry, but you can’t make hand paintings anymore. You see, your handprints are so big, so colorful, and so bright. But your friend Tom has smaller hands, so he can’t make as many paintings as you. I think you should stop so he doesn’t feel bad.”
You know what that kid is going to say: “What’s my hand got to do with Tom feeling bad?”
And they would be right. After all, if Tom is feeling bad about them having bigger hands, that’s Tom’s problem.
But add a couple of decades to the kid’s age and the response changes: “Oh yes, thank you. I don’t want Tom to think I’m an arrogant know-it-all. I would rather hold back than really do something bold because he could take it the wrong way, and then he would judge me. What if I lose him as a friend?”
Every day, millions of people around the world encounter opportunities that help them shine bright to unlock the life they want. And every day, they reject those opportunities, using words that are (more or less) the same as above.
But if you act like the kid and think, “You know what? I’m going to do this! People might criticize me, but it’s worth it.” Everything changes.
Because you start doing the one thing that was missing all these years: listening to your own self and just doing what you wanted.
And that’s the biggest shift you can imbibe this year.
We have covered a lot of topics in this journey of confusion to clarity since the start of 2025. This, I believe, is the key that helps you act on the rest.
The question is, are you willing to tap into that light?
If you’re from India, you know that today is Diwali. When you read this email, you’ll probably have finished lighting up your home and celebrating with your family.
My request to you is, before you turn off the light and sleep tonight, can you light up the spark within you? Can you take that leap of faith and set ablaze a chain of fireworks, just ready to unlock your potential?
And can you promise yourself that until the next Diwali, you’ll keep this blaze alive, and completely change your life?
Because I know it’s possible. I’ve done it. I’ve seen many others do it. And now, it’s your turn to become the testimony 🙂
