I am nothing but the result of my consistent actions, or my habits.

— Prabhsimrat Gill

Hi everyone, this is my first blog and I am really excited to tell you some really fascinating stuff!

So, I am going to tell you the truth about your habits. Sometimes, you may be wondering about a thing you do very often but you don’t understand what makes you do it but you still do it. Am I right? If yes, then you will find the answer to that in this blog.

Habit is nothing but a mindset which is formed when you do something consistently and you don’t even come to know when it is formed. It takes 21 days to form a habit. This means that if you do something, for example you want to start learning the piano, you start to practice on April 1 and you consistently practice it daily till April 21 without any fail. It will become your habit and then you will always want to practice, because this action has been programmed into your subconscious mind.

It takes 90 days to integrate an action into your lifestyle. Taking the above example, you start practicing the piano from April 1 and you practice on a daily basis till June 30 without any fail, then playing piano will be integrated in your lifestyle just like going to work or waking up at 6 in the morning or driving. Now you may wonder, “If I play piano for 90 days, it will be mixed with my lifestyle, but how?”

If you feel like that, the answer is here. This will even provide you with the answer of why you keep doing somethings when you don’t even know why you do it. Imagine that you lived in Delhi and now you move to Mumbai. In Mumbai, you live in Worli but your office is in Juhu. On the first day, you might ask different people for the route or take help of google maps. In 21 days, you will remember the route and you won’t need any help. After about 3 months, when you get on the road and think of going to the office, you will automatically take that route without even thinking. Why? Because, now you became a master of that route as you drove on it consistently. So, this is how habits are formed and how they merge with your lifestyle in 90 days. This is the only way of forming a habit, but what about getting rid of one?

For getting rid of a habit, you need to stop performing that specific action. Like every coin, this 21/90 rule also has two sides. It takes exactly the same amount of time to get rid of a habit. If you want to get rid of your habit of over-eating(just an example) then you will have to start by decreasing the amount of food you eat and stay fixed on that amount, it will be difficult at first but after 21 days, it will be easy and in 90 days, over-eating will be kicked out of your lifestyle!

Whatever you want to do, make new and good habits or get rid of some bad ones. You should follow this 21/90 rule and just see how your habit of consistently performing actions changes your life. Key Rule- “Consistency is the key to success.”
